Special Needs
The Learning Center School has Gaborone’s leading special needs department. We have a qualified, compassionate staff that is specially trained and dedicated to our special needs students.
We offer a range of sections within this department to help serve the different varieties of disabilities including mild learning disorders, Down syndrome, Autism, and Mental Retardation. Please feel free to contact the school for more specific information about how can help your child.
As with everything we do, TLCS is moving forward and improving our Special Needs Department. We are placing increasing focus on an individual approach to each student. We do this by doing a in-depth assessment of each child and creating and implementing of an I.E.P. (Individual Education Plan) based on the results of this assessment.
Pre-School
The Pre-school at TLCS offers a highly integrated curriculum designed to give you child an excellent head start on life. We offer small class sizes and every classroom has both a teacher and an assistant allowing our staff to give each child the attention and help they need to give them a good foundation for their education.
In K3 and K4 our students are taught the alphabet, phonics, and how to recognize numbers. By the end of K4 most of our students are reading words with one vowel.
In Reception they continue this progress to fluent reading using an enhanced phonics programs. They also begin to learn math concepts and skills and most can do basic math by their graduation from Reception.
We also offer art, music, swimming and a gross motor skills program as part of our Pre-school curriculum.
Primary
At The Learning Center School we have created a nurturing positive environment in which your child can reach their full potential. We offer a Christian based curriculum that fully aligns with the Botswana Government syllabus.
In addition to an excellent sport and physical education department we offer drama, music, and Discovery Club as part of our primary level education.
Kidrobics
Kidrobics is a program that is exclusive to The Learning Centre School. Created by Puni Khiyani and Cynthia Modisaotsile, Kidrobics is designed to develop gross motor skills. All preschool and lower primary classes are included in this program.
Secondary
The majority of our classes at Secondary level are guided by the IGCSE syllabus. Our campus is a Cambridge testing center for the IGCSE. At the Learning Centre we encourage self-discipline and good character and work hand in hand with the parents to prepare students for the future as confident, knowledgeable, spiritual and socially responsible citizens.
Sport and Physical Education
At The Learning Center School we endeavor to produce well-rounded students. We hope to help develop not only their academic and creative minds but also a healthy body.
Our caring, qualified staff of coaches teach through our competitive sports and physical education, the concepts of a healthy body and mind, and promote the ideas of unity and teamwork.
The Learning Center School competes in cricket, soccer, netball, chess, swimming, basketball, and athletics.
